A week to drink
Posted by Pete on 2:56 pm.

This week the world is slow. Everybody's with their families, Christmas, eggnog and all the ding-dongs. We, too, have families and, although we're not too fond of Christmas, our families still would love to spend some quality time with us (as in 'off-the-internet-time.')

So no comics this week folks! We're going to take a little break for the sake of being on break. And it's not as if you guys would check out the website so frequently these days either, so we call it even.

Next year we'll start celebrating one year of A Lost Hope. Also, 2009 will see a lot coming from Max Reebo. It took us time and planning, and we're so happy to show you all the projects we started this year.

We'll be back on the 5th. Go read a book or something.

Keep rocking,

Tad overdue yet once again!
Posted by Dan on 12:33 pm.

Hey peeps!
Sorry about the small delay, a few things went on and the strip is a few hours late.
But fear not! In a few hours your Friday dosage of ALH will be up!
Just thought I might warn you all.
Peace!

Ravings of a mad man
Posted by Pete on 12:42 am.

I could list everything that kept me from posting on Max Reebo these last few weeks, but it would probably take the whole front page on just complaints and we all know that whining is one of the reasons that kept mankind from not being, y'know, sharkkind. Let's leave it that lately I've been through a lot, from paying my Boite Noire monthly due (a video store here in Montreal) to fighting the devil back to Hell.

But hey you geeks, I'm back!

While I was out for a bit, Dan and I decided we weren't crazy enough juggling our schools, jobs and (absented of) sex lives, so we figured out it would be awesome if A Lost Hope would go bi-weekly, and although this sounds like something your sex-crazed hot neighbour would do, it's just plain geek amazement: now you'll have twice as much strips from skinny & bearded every week!

Wow! Two puns involving sex in a single paragraph. The sky is the limit. (I'm looking at you, James Bond)

You guys probably realized a new series is afoot. It has been some time since our last series, which we always have a lot of fun creating, so we just renovated an old concept we had some months ago, threw in some fan-based Star Wars jokes and there you go: whole new Star Wars serialized strips. We like to imagine there's a S.W. fan reading them right now, wearing half of a Boba Fett costume and laughing his ass off.

We figured out we should constantly create mini-series for ALH, because as mentioned, we have fun doing it, and since the whole point of ALH is just plain old-school, drop in your chair, open a beer, smile and have fun, nothing more appropriate than releasing a new series every now and then.

There's some stuff cooking up until the holidays, so I'll get back to you with more news shortly.

Keep rocking,

Moment of absence!
Posted by Dan on 7:16 pm.

Well, as you people might have noticed, our resident writter, Pete, has taken a temporary leave due to internet problems. And will probably be back in a week or two.
So on the mean time, I'm taking over and we're having a week or two series on ALH called the Millenium Falcon Chronicles, pretty much based on a few Star Wars related conversations I've had with Pete through out the last few years. Most of which took part under the heavy influence of alcohol. So yeah, they're pretty odd.
And that's pretty much it for now, actually.
Hope you guys enjoy!

Doo dee doo

Well, as you people might have noticed, Pete has been a bit absent lately, pretty much due to internet problems and such. So I'll be taking over for the mean time!
For those of you who might be wondering about todays ALH strip and the whole "Thursday" thing, here's an explanation:
Ever since I was a young kid, horrible things had a way of going down only on Thursdays. And now I'm 23 years old, and Thursday's still suck balls. Don't ask me why, it just happens for some odd reason. So yeah, we thought it'd be nice to share just what happens on any given Thursday.
Regarding other news, I can say we're working our asses off on a few new projects. One of which is the Infinite Library, like you people might've seen in the comic portion of the site. This one's gonna be our first full lenght comic (or album, if you prefer), and we're pretty psyched up about it! Probably around the middle last portion of November we'll be uploading it for you guys to read.
Along with that, I've been working on my own on a comic for our Brazilian readers, called Ornitorrinco ("Platypus" in english. Explanation on that on a near future). Around the 25th of November it'll be printed on the Brazilian magazine UP (Underground Press) along with a version for the internet so everyone can get a taste of it.
And that's that for now. Probably around next week, Pete will come back in charge of the blog area again and things will go back to normal.

So yeah... happy halloween to all of you. And don't go around dying on us now!

My bad!

Hey there, true believers! (don't sue me, Stan Lee!)
Yeah, I know... there was no strip last week. But like I've mentioned a few posts ago, there's ALOT of things going on. Alot of new projects that are taking up a good part of our time, but it's gonna be real worth it.
And one of the new things that's going on is that now we're going bi-weekly! Oh yeah, twice the A Lost Hope for all you nerds and sympathizers! Now we'll be throwing new strips for you people every Monday to start out your week, like usual, and every Friday to jump start your weekend with geekness.
And that's that, keep your eyes pealed for the new stuff!

Peace!

About hearts and dreams
Posted by Pete on 2:53 pm.

Thinking that Han Solo was the prototype of all the human beings is, if anything, just mind-blowing. It's almost as if God has a sense of humour. Oh, wait, he does: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platypus)

Apparently Force Unleashed didn't make that much of a fuzz than we thought it would. Of course, although we live in a big nerd bubble, we knew such game wouldn't reach the general public - people who are happy enough with games like Halo or Grand Theft Auto - but even for the Star Wars community, this wasn't a big deal. Still, it was a wonderful game to play and amazing enough to be reckoned as the last great game released for the PS2, also known as the last standing soldier of the boundary-pusher Second Generation game consoles. Rest in peace 2G, we loved you as long as we could (and will still play you every now and then, or at least until they release Battlefront 3).

Not much going on here at the office lately (yes, we love to think we have an office), but great news are coming from all the places. Both me and Dan are working hard so we reach as many people as we can - and basing it on internet demographics, it's a hell of a lot of people! Also, we want to reach the right people, and that is definitely more complicated.

Looking back 10 months ago and imagining that by then we didn't even have a website for A Lost Hope, I realize we did a lot already. I do mind we barely reached the status of a grain of salt in a sea of dreamers but recognition's coming slowly from all sides and our dreams were never that strong. We aimed for the moon and but I'm pretty sure we'll hit other galaxies because all you see here is love and nothing will track us down from our passions.

Keep it coming, for we are hearts and hearts never stop beating.

"We hope he will bring equillibrium to the Force"
Posted by Pete on 4:05 am.

Big week fellas! We even sent our Star Wars costumes to the dry-cleaners to get them pretty shinny for this week. Not that Dan actually has a full Chewie costume, other than the chest belt and the side bag (thing about it: he already has the fur). We had to get them cleaned because they were in the closet for far too long, since we refused to take them out a month ago. Yes, sometimes we rather forget than cope with it.

That was obviously the case for The Clone Wars animation Mr. Lucas decided to release for the legion of Star Wars' fans, hungry to see any Force disciple doing crazy shit on the silverscreen. Not only we - as in 'we, the whole freaking fan base' - are angry with him for showing little to none quality in any level of filmmaking (and that, gentlemen, I do understand) but he abused us in the most cruel way, geekwise: he used that hunger to make us all drag our asses to theatres all over the world not to deliver something we could at least call interesting, but to gross out the money of our pockets into his. It's like giving an olive to a starving child in Africa and charging ten bucks for it. Five if it's a Tuesday in Montreal.

This movie is also the reason we're proudly taking our costumes out of the closet and, fuck it, we'll wear it on the streets. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is coming out for nearly possible console you can think of, including the living dead PS2. Also, in a brave move against the third generation exclusivity trend, LucasArts, the studio behind the development of Force Unleashed, told the media there were special goodies that only the PlayStation 2 would have to compensate the lack of top notch graphics only the third generation consoles, and probably the PC, can deliver for obvious reasons. And that's actually how we know this game's going to be awesome. Unlike George Lucas' thinking, this game's developers have the most important factor in their minds set to the game - the gamers. We are not saying this is going to be a 10/10 kick-ass game, but it has a lot of what the recent Star Wars franchise lacks: it respects the Star Wars' aficionados all over.

But widening the subject a little bit, let's talk about other nerdy stuff! We have big news in Max Reebo, which means big news for you people. Before the end of this month two new sections will be released. First, and as it was before unofficially announced, M.R. Animations proudly presents "A Lost Hope Animated - Season 1, The Fur Stone"! Yes, now we are animatedly stupid. A brand new episode will be released every month up until next August next year. We're still defining the release dates for each month, so check out the Animations tab up there during this week for more info.

Also, we'll finally launch a project that we carefully developed during Summer. We didn't decide on names and dates yet, but this project will get us beyond the typical 'webcomic creators' label so we can fully consider ourselves in the comic business. M.R. Comics will launch a full graphic novel monthly starting possibly late September. The themes of each one of them, naturally, will be a surprise, but be sure that in a long perspective they will cover most of our tastes in possibly everything, from literature and cinema to ultimate violent splatter and senseless action. Even freaking Star Wars' in it! (and how it couldn't be)

Most importantly, this will boost our ideal of gathering as many good cartoonists and writers as possible so we can release their works through Max Reebo, since we are now inviting artists from all over the world to show their pieces in our website. So keep it coming, folks! If you know someone whose talent in Comics (or in any Max Reebo section, for that matter) should be truly appreciated by everyone and treated with respect from other artists point-of-view, then just e-mail any of us with info!

Next week, more beef.

Keep rocking. Stay nerd.

A bit over due!
Posted by Dan on 1:37 pm.

Yeah yeah, as you guys might have noticed, I'm a bit overdue regarding today's strip. But fear not, later on today you'll be reading a brand new ALH strip to start out your week.
Thing's have been going on pretty well lately, and we have some prety wicked projects going on, but unfortunatly for you guys, this is all I can say for now, hahaha. But I asure you guys that even though we seem rather slow, we've got a few things brewing.
So that's pretty much it, just wanted to give you guys a heads up on what's going on!

Peace.
